BIOGRAPHY OF GIANCARLO BIGAZZI

The beginning of the collaborations

When he was still very young  Giancarlo had already composed great successes like “Un colpo al cuore”, written for the voice of Mina;  then “Luglio”  and  “Cosa hai messo nel caffé”, sung by Riccardo Del Turco;  then “Lisa dagli occhi blu”, interpreted by Mario Tessuto;  “Eternità” for Ornella Vanoni, and “Re di cuori” for Caterina Caselli. During his Roman years, he had met Enrico Polito who had introduced him to a very promising young Neapolitan “scugnizzo” (“urchin”) called Massimo Ranieri,  for whom he wrote various successes, including “Rose Rosse”, dedicated to his beloved Gianna. Other successes were:  “Se Bruciasse la città” , “Erba di casa mia”, etc. For Ranieri he wrote “Vent’anni”, which Ranieri presented at the ’70-’71 Canzonissima song contest. The piece was inspired by the fact that Massimo Ranieri had his 20th birthday in May of that year. In those years, Giancarlo wrote for many artists, including the Bella brother and sister; for Gianni Bella he wrote many songs, including “Non si può morire” and “Più ci penso”, which became European successes. Marcella Bella’s successes included “Montagne Verdi”, “Io domani” , “Nessuno mai”.
