Un Colpo al Cuore brought to success in 1968 by Mina is the first song officially signed by Giancarlo Bigazzi, both as author and composer. This new lounge version performed by Franco Simone is arranged by Nerio Poggi (aka Papik) and Peter De Girolamo. Under the artistic direction of Franco Fasano and Giovanni Bigazzi.
This track is the second chapter of the Giancarlo Bigazzi in Lounge project: a series of musical reinterpretations, a progressive journey of rediscovery, with the aim of creating a new sound to some tracks from the boundless repertoire of Bigazzi's hits.
In fact, GB Music, a historic Florentine label now owned by Giovanni Bigazzi, has already released the first single in the Self Control series. To celebrate, 40 years after the release of the song written by Giancarlo Bigazzi, Raf and Steve Piccolo in 1984, this great worldwide hit with a new interpretation by Nicole Magolie.
The video for Un Colpo al Cuore, shot and directed by Giulio Cannata and with graphic contribution by Roberto Sordoni, tells “the love story between two young people who meet in Milan; their first dance, their first kiss. Their complicity becomes the protagonist of a timeless story that affects us all. Not only finding each other but also experiencing and then leaving each other. A journey into archetypal feelings against the backdrop of a metropolis that looks to the future but is still building pieces of its own identity,” explains Giulio Cannata.
Franco Simone confessed that “there are songs that with a few words and a few notes are much more than just a piece of music. A Shot to the Heart is one of them, because by listening to it or singing it, one is immersed in an experience similar to watching a good movie, or reading a good book. Perhaps this happens only with masterpieces. When Giovanni Bigazzi, whom I consider the guardian angel of the artistic creations of the great father Giancarlo, together with the multifaceted Franco Fasano, a singer-songwriter of a thousand virtues, proposed me to sing this song in a lounge version, I immediately accepted with enthusiasm, remembering also with tenderness and a bit of nostalgia the thousand emotions that the immense Mina had aroused in me when I first heard it.
This video seems to me a harmonious complement to a song so simple and so effective. There are lovers evoking the normal, but always extraordinary, story of true love: the meeting, the complicity, the misunderstandings... joys and sorrows in which it is easy to recognize oneself.
The fact that my image does not appear and I am only voice particularly pleases me, because A Shot to the Heart does not need so many faces: it is a small musical miracle that shines with its own light.
“Among the artists who are admirers of Bigazzi, author and producer, Franco Simone, although he has never worked with the “genius,” has always held him up as an example, and when I contacted him, at the invitation of Giovanni Bigazzi (creator of the project), the first song he mentioned by Giancarlo was precisely Un Colpo al Cuore, which, in 1968, Mina had brought to success. The idea of Giancarlo Bigazzi in Lounge excited him, and within a few days another pearl of Bigazzi's repertoire found its new guise in the heartfelt and passionate interpretation typical of that Franco Simone who even wanted to write and sing a Spanish version of it for his South American market,” reveals Franco Fasano well-known Italian music author and artistic director of the Bigazzi in Lounge project.
